Lisbon - Alyce Marye Applegate, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home on Thursday evening.
Alyce was born February 27, 1928 in McClure, OH, a daughter of the late Albert and Vida F. (Reed) Bohling.
She was a very lively, active woman throughout her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lisbon where she volunteered at the food pantry and sang in the church choir. She loved to sing and sang on a radio show for several years and later in the Lisbon Community Chorus. While living in Houston, she was the Prime Timers coordinator, she organized 249 trips.
She will be missed by her family, includingher children Lianne (Jerry) Toot of Lisbon, Larraine (Bill) Galloway of Magnolia, TX, Christine Doyle of Conroe, TX, John (Marnie) Applegate of Lisbon, and Mary Kathryn (Michael) Lyberg of Avon Lake. There are 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grand-children as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death in 1996 by her husband Robert Joseph (Goat) Applegate whom she married in 1949. Also deceased are two sons, Michael Reed Applegate and Michael Joseph Applegate, a daughter, Elisabeth Ann Applegate, a brother, Donald Bohling, and a grandson, David Thomas Haught.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tina Gallaher officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
