Louisville - Amelia “Mimi” Serago, 96, formerly of Lisbon died at 4:19 AM Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the St. Joseph Care Center.
Mimi was born July 22, 1917 in Leetonia, the daughter of the late Anthony and Maria (Ungaro) Mauro.
She had worked as Deputy Auditor for the Columbiana County Auditor’s Office under Kenneth Bell for more than 20 years.
Mimi was a member of St. George Roman Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and worked many wedding and funeral dinners. She was a graduate of Leetonia High School.
Survivors include her daughters Deanna Huntsman of North Canton and Cindy (Stephen) Chestnut of Leetonia and four granddaughters: Melissa Chestnut-Ferry, Christa Stark, Jennifer McKelley, and Erica Chestnut – Ramirez; four great-grandsons with another on the way and three great-granddaughters
Her Husband, Harry Serago, whom she married March 11, 1943, died July 4, 1995. Also deceased are her sisters Sue Jeswald, Ida Mentzer, Jean Kociban, and Delphine Schneider; brother Judge Guy J. Mauro.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by The Rev. James Land the Rev. Robert Edwards will be held at 12:30 PM Monday at St. George Catholic Church. Calling hours will be observed from 10:00 AM to noon Monday at the Weber Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
