Lisbon -Betty Jane Elkins, 84, formerly of Black Road, Lisbon, died at 6:50 PM Thursday, March 24, 2011 following a lengthy illness.
Born May 14, 1926 in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Verna (Baker) Hollabaugh.
A homemaker, she also had worked in housekeeping for the Bacon and Cibula Clinic for 10 years.
she was a 1944 graduate of New Waterford High School and a member of F.O.E. Aerie 2216 Auxiliary and VFW Post 4111 Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed bingo.
Survivors include five nieces and nephews whom she raised: Peggy (Pete) Chestnut of Lisbon, Diane Coontz of Salem, Fred (Cathy) Arnoto of Ravenna, Ern Arnoto of Lisbon, and Jean DeCarlo of Salem as well as 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death on February 23, 2001 by her husband Donald E. Elkins whom she married August 2, 1947. Also deceased are sisters Clara Arnoto, Jean Webber, Helen Estherly, and brothers Audley and Roy Hollabaugh.
The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the Weber Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Savage officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 Pm Sunday at the funeral home.
