Lisbon -David Edward Ondrejko. 62, of SR 517 died in the emergency room at Salem Community Hospital Sunday, March 24, 2013.
Born July 3, 1950 in Zanesville, he was a son of the late Edward F. and Lelia V. (Moore) Ondrejko-Cameron.
Dave worked for D.W. Dickey/Hilltop Energy for 41 years, retiring July 2012. He started as an explosives crew member and worked his way to a blaster and site manager.
He was a former member and past president of the Lisbon Lions Club, and a member of the International Society of Explosives Engineers. He was often consulted by emergency personnel when explosives were involved and even gave seminars on the subject to law enforcement and emergency personnel.
A Vietnam veteran of the Army, he was a member of the American Legion. He served with U.S. Army Company B, 1st Bn., 2nd Inf., 4th Inf. Division earning a Bronze Star with Valor while in Vietnam during1969 and 1970.
He was a very loving husband to his wife, Amy L. (Ewing) Ondrejko, whom he married February 22, 1974; a loving father to Jillian (MalVerne) Inniss of Charleston, SC, and grandfather to Roman, Maliyah, Eva, and Bishop.
Other survivors include 3 brothers: Wayne of Lebanon, OH, Daniel of Lakewood, CO, and Robert of Howland; sisters Joyce Stepien of Wichita, KS, Cinde Martinelli of Richmond Hill, GA, and Mary Anna Ondrejko of Huxley, IA; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Esther and Allan Ewing of Salem; and brothers-in-law Thom and Bill Ewing; and many nieces and nephews. Dave will be sadly missed by all.
The funeral will be at 11:00 Am Thursday at the Weber Funeral Home with the Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 PM to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
