Edward Reinhart Bergman

October 3, 1954 — June 17, 2011

Salem -Edward Reinhart Bergman, 86, formerly of West Perry Street died at 3:10 AM Friday, June 17,2011 at Salem Community Hospital.



Born October 3, 1924 in Collinsburg, PA, he was a son of the late William and Minnie (George) Bergman.



Edward worked in Plant 2 at Mullins Manufacturing for 12 years, owned and operated Bergman's General Country Store in West Point for 20 years and later worked at Insul Company until retiring in 1991.



A WW II Army veteran, he was a life member of V.F.W. Post 4111, life member of Amvets No. 45 as well as the DAV in Salem, and was a founding member and past chief of the West Point Fire Department. He was Lutheran by faith and was an avid fisherman.



Survivors include his children Linda J. Aughinbaugh of Canfield, John E. (Gail) Bergman of Salem, Perry A. Bergman of North Bend, OR, and Tracey R. (Frank) Cook of Bessemer City, NC; 3 grandchildren: Kricket Jarvis, Ashley and Anita Cook, 2 great-grandchildren: Kira and Kyle Jarvis ; 1 great-great grandchild; and sisters Ruth DiNardo of West Newton, PA and Alma Chuck of West Point.



He was preceded in death by a daughter Tammy L. Bergman, brothers William, Wilbert, Raymond, and Andrew Bergman, and sisters Margaret Sikorsky and Martha Kelly.



The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Weber Funeral Home with the Rev. Fayette Grose officiating. Friends may call 5 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lisbon cemetery.
