East Palestine-Esther Ruth Gbur, 74, of the Meadows at the Covington, formerly of Lisbon, passed away at 9:26 PM Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Salem Community Hospital following a brief illness
Born September 30, 1936 in Ford City, PA, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Esther (Stump) Cannon.
She had worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for several nursing facilities.
She attended St. George Catholic Church and was a member of V.F.W. Post 4111 Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 2216, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 131, Leetonia.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Rudy (John) Price of Columbiana, and Diana (Matt) Kampfer of Winston-Salem, NC; 2 sons, William J. Gbur of Lisbon and Roger (Velma) Gbur of Columbiana; a sister, Madge Elliott of Merced, CA; a brother, John M. Cannon of Waldwick, NJ, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Frank C. Gbur whom she married December 31, 1954 preceded her in death in 1986. Also deceased are her son Frank K. Gbur, sisters Gladys Richards and Olive Nicholson, and brothers Gilbert and Robert Cannon.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday July 6 at the Weber Funeral Home with the Rev. James Lang of St. George Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
