Lisbon -Esther Joan Peterson, 76, finished the good fight on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Salem Community Hospital and is now walking hand in hand with her Father in Heaven.
Born November 19, 1933 in Lisbon, she was a daughter of the late Guy Emmett and Edith Ellen (Todd) Peterson.
She retired in 1981 from the A and P Tea Company, Inc. where she had worked as head cashier for many years.
Esther was a life-long Lisbon resident and a 1952 graduate of David Anderson High School. She was an active member of the Lisbon Church of the Nazarene where she served as a Sunday School teacher, board member, NMI president, song leader, and financial secretary, and was a past recipient of the distinguished service award.
Survivors include three sisters: Mary E. Peterson of Canton, Betty J. Peterson with whom she resided, and Ruth E. (John) Coy of Alliance; nieces Joni R. (Coy) Rose of Lisbon and Betsy J. Coy of Alliance; great-nieces Alia M. and Kyrstan E. Rose as well as several cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother Dwain Allen Peterson in 1949 as well as an infant brother.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Weber Funeral Home with Pastor Jamey Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
