Lisbon -Evelyn Minnie Wherry, 86, formerly of SR 45 died early Tuesday morning at Salem Community Hospital.
Born September 23, 1923 in Lisbon, she was a daughter of the late Alpheus Raymond and Dorothy Margaret (Bailey) Farmer.
She was a homemaker. She also worked as welder at Dominion Electric in Mansfield during WW II and at General Electric in Salem. In addition, she assisted her husband in operating BK Nursery in Lisbon.
She was a former member of St. Jacob's United Church of Christ and Mount Nebo Grange.
Survivors include her husband Sherman Wherry whom she married May 8, 1946; 7 children: Brenda (Duane) Metz of Mineral Ridge, Karen B. (Glenn) McIlhargie of Johnstown, OH, Sheila Mae (Elwin) Hawk, Russell E. (Sherri) Wherry, Clyde D. (Kathy) Wherry, Virgil L. (Janie) Wherry all of Lisbon, and David (Lynne) Wherry of Glen Allen, VA; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kerry Lynn Hawk and 5 sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the Weber Funeral Home with the Rev. Pam Gable officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
