Salem - Frank James Diehl, 90, of Salem passed away at 11:00 AM Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Sterling House.
Born December 16, 1920 in Bedford, PA, he was a son of the late Andrew James and Susanna Jemima (Diehl) Diehl.
He worked as a hardware salesman for forty years, retiring from Kruse Hardware in 1985. He then drove for Gold Cross Limousine Service for 18 years.
Frank was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, was past president of Salem Jaycees and the Sevakeen Country Club, past president of Salem Saxon Club and served as its secretary for 25 years.
His wife, Dorothy Katherine (Untch) Diehl, whom he married in 1944 died in 2005. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his son Timothy Franklin Diehl and brothers Bill and Don Diehl.
Survivors include his children Gary L. (Nancy) Diehl of Alliance and Susan J. (John) Luxeuil of Salem; 4 grandchildren: Nathan, Megan, and Amber Diehl, and Autumn (Diehl) Boling as well as 4 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Alan Smearsoll officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of service at the church.
