Fred Eugene Campsey

Lisbon -Fred E. Campsey, 69, of Spruce Street was pronounced dead on arrival at Salem Community Hospital at 11:36 AM Thursday, April 22, 2010.



Born September 15, 1940 in Lisbon, he was the son of the late William J. and Margaret E. 'Sue' (Bilsky) Campsey.



Fred worked as an auto worker at GM Lordstown from 1966 to 1997.



A life-long area resident, Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps; a member of the Lisbon First United Methodist Church, member and past Master of New Lisbon Lodge No. 65 F& AM, member and past commander of American Legion Post 275, member of the Lisbon Lions Club and V.F.W. Post 4111. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, coached little league baseball, and was a loyal Cincinnati Bengal and Cleveland Indians fan. He also bowled in Lisbon's Wednesday and Sunday night leagues for many years.



Survivors include his wife, the former Carol A. McDevitt whom he married February 27, 1965; a daughter, Tori Lynn (Jeffrey) Hoperich of Lisbon; sister Joann Candle; sister-in-law Dottie (Bob) Brown; and brother-in-law Butch (Jan) McDevitt all of Lisbon; nephews Rob (Dee) Brown, Jr. (Josh and Chase), Scott (Tammy) Brown (Tyler and Trevor), Travis (Maria) Brown (Lexy, Haley, Riley, and Alyssa), Aaron McDevitt, Todd McDevitt, and Michael (Jennifer) Smith; niece Mikki (Howard) Smith; great-nieces Crista (Dan) Hutton (Kelsie and Katelyn), Rebecca (Chris) Bratt, and Laura Smith as well as his grand-puppies Princess, Emily, and Sasha.



He was preceded in death by a son, William Jeffrey Campsey.



Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Lisbon First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Pam Gable officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Calling hours are 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the Weber funeral home where a Lions Club service will be held at 1:00 PM and a Masonic service at 8:00 PM.
