George W. "Sprick" McCord, 91, of Lisbon passed away at 2:32 PM Thursday,October 15, 2009 at the Salem Community Hospital.
Born June 25, 1918 in Gavers, OH, he was the son of the late Jerry and Lena (Grooms) McCord.
He had worked as an assembler for the E.W. Bliss Company for 31 years, retiring in 1983.
A WW II Army Veteran, he was a member of VFW Post 4111, a graduate of Salineville High School, and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include a son, Jerry McCord of Girard; grandchildren - Steve McCord of Jupitor, FL and Chris (Jack)Moore of Lisbon; great-grandchildren - Matt McCord, Taylor McCord, and Aaron Seidner; two great-great-grandchildren; and a niece Betty Kerr of Salineville.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude Jean Klein, and Brothers, Dean and Donald McCord.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Weber Funeral Home with Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.
