Janis Faye (Smith) Mundy

Janis F. Mundy, 85, of Lisbon, Ohio, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Salem Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.  She was surrounded by her family.

Janis was born on October 6, 1939 in Salineville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Mabel (Catlett) Smith.

A 1958 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, she lived in Lisbon all her life.

Janis was the owner of Mundy’s Tree Farm and JM Spring and Wire and a lifelong member of St. George Catholic Church in Lisbon.

Janis was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in all sports.  She also never missed a Steelers game.  A testament to her true love of sports, Janis became the first woman basketball referee in the State of Ohio.

Janis chartered the Ladies West Point Lions Club over 30 years ago.  She was also the #1 fan of Mundy’s Truck and Garden Tractors Pulling Teams.

She leaves behind her loving family, which was most important to her.  She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 66 years, William “Bill” Mundy, son John (Janice) Mundy of Lisbon, daughter Debra (Dale) Rambo of Lisbon, son Jeff (Nikol) Mundy of Lisbon, and grandchildren, Brittany Rambo (Corey Dickey) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lucas Rambo (Chelsea and Nick) of Hanoverton, Ohio, Jacob Mundy of Akron, Ohio, and Nicolas and Zylar Mundy of Lisbon.

In addition to her parents, Janis is preceded in death by her stepfather, Merle Smith, sister Elizabeth “Betty” Stark, and brothers Donald, Wilbur “Flex”, and Kenneth Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11am at St. George Catholic Church, 278 W. High St., Lisbon, Ohio 44432.  Calling hours will be one hour prior to the church service.
