Lisbon -Joanne J. Muntean, 76, of North Market Street died at 6:00 AM Friday,
February 27, 2009 at Salem Community Hospital.
Born June 3, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Thirl and Mae (Stouffer)
Flugan.
The Muntean family founded Pondi's Restaurant, and Joanne and her husband
Nick operated it for several years. Most recently, she worked as a receptionist at the
Lisbon Way Station through the Senior Aid Program.
A member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, she maintained close
friendships and enjoyed keeping up with their families.
Surviving are her children Thomas (Linda) Haught of Lisbon, Carolyn Thomas of
North Wilksboro, NC, and Nick (Judy) Muntean of Columbus; a sister, Joyce (Hank)
Siefke, of Alliance; and 5 grandchildren: Emily and Daniel Haught, Lauren Thomas, and
Nicole and Matthew Muntean.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nick Muntean in 1978 and a grandson,
David Haught.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the Weber Funeral Home with the
Rev. Mark Wilds officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4
PM Sunday at the funeral home.
