Lisbon -Joseph Michael Mellon, 89, passed away at 12:45 AM Sunday, August 30, 2009 at his home.
Born November 26, 1919 in West Point, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Francsek) Mellon.
He had worked as a press operator and shell line supervisor at Mullins Manufacturing and as a machine shop supervisor at NRM Corp., retiring in 1984.
A WW II Army veteran, he was a member of St. George Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 4049 and was a 1938 graduate of David Anderson High School.
Survivors include 3 sons: Joe of Lisbon, Andy and his wife Suzanne of Beverly Hills, MI, and Tim and his wife Violet of Lisbon; sisters Elizabeth Chamberlain of Lisbon, Mary Mitchell of Moorpark, CA, and Irene Gbur of Lisbon; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
His wife Mary (Bergant) Mellon died in 2006.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at St. George Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Edwards officiating. The are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to either the Salem Area Visiting Nurses, 718 E. Third Street, Suite A, Salem, OH 44460 or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512.
