Mary Madeline (Smallwood) Schnader

November 24, 1924 — January 16, 2015


Lisbon - Mary Madeline Schnader, 90, formerly of Lisbon, passed away Friday morning at Crandall Medical Center.
Mary was born November 15, 1924 in Gavers, a daughter of the late Hoy and Mary Smallwood.
A 1943 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, she was a member of St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ where she was active in the music ministry. She was an avid gardener and sang for many weddings as well as with the Community Chorus.
Mary was a loving, selfless grandmother, mother, and wife who continuously gave to her family, friends, and her God.
She was a devoted wife of John Schnader for 71 years; a wonderful mother to Gene P. Schnader, Gale (Michael) Prasco, and Dennis E. Schnader of all of Salem. There are 6 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters: Cecil, Raymond, Maxwell, and Clyde Eskew; Virginia, Stalnaker, and Osa Sharp; Beryl, Ernest, and James Smallwood; Amy Little, and Maxine Duvall and an infant son.
There will be a funeral service at 11 AM Monday at St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Calling hours are one hour prior to the service at the church.
