Pete F. Gallo, 98, formerly of Lisbon, passed away early Tuesday morning at Brookdale of Salem.
Born August 8, 1917 in Falerna, Italy, he was a son of the late Giovanni F. and Maria (Maruca) Gallo.
Pete owned and operated G&W Mining for many years and had been retired for more than thirty years.
He was a member of St. George Catholic Church and a past member of Lisbon Kiwanis and Lisbon Ruritan. He enjoyed playing cards and tending his garden. Always civic minded, Pete was involved in the development of the county airport and the regional Kent State University campuses.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn E. (Gruber) Peterson-Gallo; five children: Glen (Donna) Gallo of Sun City, AZ, Irene Brown of Chandler, AZ, Virginia (Doug) Loboy of Struthers, Gene (Beth) Gallo, and Roger (Barb) Gallo both of Lisbon; six step-children: Barbara, Betsy, Jewyl, Ann, Melissa, and Natalie. There are 13 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 11 step-great-grandchildren as well as his sister, Yolanda Spinelli of Ambridge, PA.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary J. (Lewis) Gallo in 1989, and four brothers: Joseph, Ross, Ted, and Glen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Cicero at St. George Catholic Church at 10:30 AM Friday. Calling hours are 5 to 8 pm Thursday with a rosary service at 8:00 pm at Weber Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
