Lisbon -Ruth Ethel Halverstadt, 96, of Copeland Oaks and formerly of Lisbon passed away at 7:09 Am Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Crandall Medical Center.
Born May 12, 1915 in Lisbon, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Maude (DeSellem) Redick.
A homemaker, she was an active member of St. Jacob's United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Women's Guild and the Lamplighter's Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Wednesday Evening Discussion Club, Iva Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and Mother of Twins Club.
She will be missed by her 5 children Jan Halverstadt of Clearwater, FL, David (Rebecca) Halverstadt of Salem, Kathy (Terry) Apple of China Grove, NC, Kim (Stevie) Halverstadt of Lisbon, and Kay (Brian) Ewing of Oak Harbor as well her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and cousin Margaret Conkle of Lisbon.
She was preceded in death on September 7, 2011 by her Husband, John Henry Halverstadt, whom she married May 2, 1941. Also deceased are her adoptive parents Kirby and Helen McClellan, and siblings Milton, Duane, Bernice, Beatrice, Mildred, and Pauline Redick, and Betty Brant as well as two infant brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the St. Jacob's United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jenna Brown officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the church or the American Heart Association.
