Lisbon- Sharon Lu Ruberto, 68, passed away at home following a lengthy illness.
Sharon was born November 8, 1948 in Somerville/Somerset, NJ to the late Kenneth K. and Gladys (Dalley) Manners.
She will be remembered for her love of horses and particularly for her skill as a trainer of thoroughbred horses. She operated Ruberto Racing Stables with her husband Lou and son and daughter-in-law.
She enjoyed training and riding and built a successful career in race horses. She wintered in Wagener, SC for 10 years doing what she loved most, working with horses and fox hunting. She won several competitions and was well-known among her competitors. In addition, she drove bus for Hunterdon Central High School. She was a long-time member of Amwell Valley Hounds in Ringoes, NJ, Gulley Ridge Hounds in Waynesburg, OH, the Whiskey Road Foxhounds in Aiken, SC, as well as the Saxonburg Hunt in Saxonburg, PA and Salley, SC
Survivors include her husband Louis Ruberto whom she married April 8, 1980, her sons Louis Ruberto and his wife Jenny of Lisbon, and Shawn Cahill of Gainesville, FL, her grandchildren Hannah and Nicholas Ruberto and Peyton Cahill as well as her brother Bergen (June) Manners of Ringoes, NJ, sister Karen Peabody of Ringoes, NJ.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Van Dyke Manners.
There will be a memorial service officiated by the Rev. Tina Gallaher at 6:00 PM Tuesday at the Weber Funeral Home. Friends may call two hours prior to the service.
