Lisbon -William Davis Bleigh, 89, passed away at 4:30 AM Thursday, June 13, 2013 at his home.
Born April 27, 1924 in Walkersville, WV, he was a son of the late Ballard Scott and Valley Belle (Blake) Bleigh.
Bill worked as a service supervisor for Columbia Gas for more than 31 years, retiring in 1983.
A Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Cleveland in the South Pacific during WW II. In addition, he served a year in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He was a member of the Beaver Street Church of Christ, VFW Post 4111 of Lisbon where he served as Surgeon General, F and AM No. 681 East Liverpool, a past member and past president of the Lisbon Lions Club and past member of the East Liverpool American Legion No. 674.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Ann (Shaw) Bleigh whom he married February 14, 2002; his daughter Sheila Bleigh of Lisbon; stepsons Terry and Mark Walker both of East Liverpool; and 8 half brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Lucille (Keyes) Bleigh in 1984. Also deceased are his brothers Cleve, Thomas, Carl, and Sam Bleigh; sisters Maddie Belle Babcock, Rhoda Bleigh, Blanche Burkhammer, Virginia Bleigh, and Eliza Steele.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the Weber Funeral Home with Herman McHan officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Calling hours are 2 to 4 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
