Lisbon –William Hoover, 91, passed away at 5:45 PM Monday at the Vista Center.
Bill was born July 9, 1924 in Canton, the son of the late Vincent S. and Myrtle (Bennett) Hoover.
He worked as a truck driver for Yellow Freight Systems for 29 years, retiring in 1986.
A member of Highland Christian Church, he was a 1942 graduate of Canton McKinley High School and a 50 year member and past president of the Salem Eagles Aerie #316.
Survivors include his wife Mary Alice (Ridgeway) whom he married December 31, 1988; his children Linda Kraynak of Howland, William H. Hoover, Vince C. Hoover, and Robert A. Hoover all of Lisbon as well as step-children John W. Smith of Lisbon and La Rae Exline of Salem. There are 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother Cora Hoover, step-father Robert H. Ray, and his first wife Rose Mary (Heffelbower) who died in 1970.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
